i had the same problem i straightened my hair and colored it for 6 years..... i was guna shave it and start over seriously! use pantene pro v restorative... try getting some cut off.. and go to a hair salon and buy leave it conditioners and moisturizers.. the leave in things are awesome.... when u shampoo and condition ur hair leave ur conditioner in for 10 min. (try to buy pantene pro v restoratives).. then rinse with cool not cold water... it will takes a month or so but it is worth it completely!! you can also use mane n tail shampoo and conditioner!! I would get some good leave in conditioners to use daily after your shampoo and conditioner, make sure what you use is thick and reconstructing to get the most help for your hair. I would also trying to get to a salon and get a good healthy trim, keep it followed up by getting a heat/protein treatment and more haircuts every 6 weeks. Get it thinned out..theyll cut it from the inside %26amp; if you do it often enough it will get thinner on its own. By the way, I think you can get your hair thinned out for free, thats if you get it cut first! There are a lot of people with curly/frizzy hair, so talk to your hair stylist and they will know exactly how to deal with it. Maybe go short without having too many layers becasue that adds bulk %26amp; makes it look thicker. I think they will cut it different lengths to make it less 'thick'. Just make an appointment one day %26amp; see what they say. They're there to help!

Tips:

1) Don't Ccomb your hair when its dry %26amp; when its wet, use a brush or Thick tooth comb.

2) Style with your fingers (stay away from curling irons etc.)

3) COCONUT SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER/OIL (works miracles for frizzy hair!)

4) rinse with Cold Water! Warm water will make it more frizzy.

5) EGG %26amp; MAYO (sounds disgusting but it will keep your hair SHINY, SILKY %26amp; less FRZZY!! Leave it in your hair for 30 mins. then rinse!)

6) LOVE YOUR HAIR!! %26amp; try not to experiment with many products, the more products you use the worse it will get!

My hair is SO thick. When it gets wet, it turns into a fro, practically. Frizz isn't a problem, it's just so thick and hard to keep straight. My hair dresser does a fabulous job of straightening and silking out, but it's only temporary. Are there any products that will make my hair straight and not stiff, withOUT using chemicals???

I have really thick hair, too. I use Matrix "sleek" styling creme. It's in an orange tube, and you have to buy it at a salon.

You put it on when you get out of the shower, and then I normally straighten my hair with a Chi straightener. My hair ends up looking normal and shiny and straight. I love it!

I tried getting my hair thinned once, (where they use a little comb with a razor in it to cut hair underneath in itty bitty amounts in layers) but when it started to grow out, I had flyaways and little hairs that wouldn't lay down right. I don't recommend it.

Also, don't blow-dry your hair. Disaster! Makes it ten times worse. Always air dry.

ONLY GET LAYERS IF THEY ARE ON THE TIP!!! I have thick long wavy hair all my life (23 years) and just figured out how to make it work my way. I take it your hair is very heavy and get a lot of spit ends because you don't want to use a lot of conditioner to weigh your hair down.

1. Buy a shampoo and conditioner that helps long hair(anti-split ends), a mousse that helps with great volume %26amp; a leave-in conditoner spray or cream.

2. When you wash your hair, use only about a nickel to quarter size and just try to wash your roots the most.

3. Now when you condition same amount and start at the ends and work your way up to the roots (that way your ends get the most and your roots down get too oily), leave in for about 30 seconds

4. When you're finished towel-drying put in the leave-in conditoner, another 20 minutes put in a handful of mousse (if you can get a sray mousse that would be better becuase you need yo try to get it on the roots) and what other styling products but don't go over board (i live in the south so I put a dime size of anit-frizz serum)

5. Then divided you hair into 3 sections (bottom, top left %26amp; top right) and blow dry each section individualy.

This makes it easier to also style or straighten your hair

Don't use a straighter gel, they just make your hair greasy in a few hours.

Another tip that my stylist told me if I follow all this and only use 2 products in my hair I don't have to wash it everyday. Apparently people are only suppose to wash their hair but every 2 or 3 days.

Whatever you do, do NOT get your hair thinned; you will be driven crazy by the shorter hairs as they grow out!!

i have same hair and i am a hairstylist. what i do : put hair in loose pony tail when damp. than part your pony in 4 sections. take each section and spray with light hold hairspray and shine serum roll section down towards your head and pin with 2 bobby pins 1 on each side of the roll. than let dry. when you take your hair out it will have soft natural curls. or you can use a diffuser: take a damp section of hair and spray with light hold spray and shine serum roll around 2 fingers and place loop into diffuser set the blow dry on medium heat and speed on low let each section dry completely before removing from diffuser. do all ever head and then give a light spray!!! good luck. to find good products and more styling ideas visit www.redken.com

You have no idea how lucky you are, as others have told you. When you have flat straight hair (as I do), there is absolutely nothing you can do other than getting a perm to give it body, etc. You can buy a good ceramic hair straightener if you want your hair straight, but if you look at photos of full curly hair and compare them to people with flat straight hair....it does nothing for their facial features. Fuller hair frames the face, and brings out your features much more so than flat straight hair. Since you already have the curls (and thinckness), you have the option to get the straightener and have the best of both worlds.

First, you can't wash it everyday. Curly hair is drier than straight hair and washing it every day makes it worse. Try every other. I have the SAME problem. Super thick hair that is TOTALLY annoying. These are just some things that I do:

1-I put it up in a ponytail-except my bangs-and clip by bangs up in a lump on top of my head. Its really cute and totally sexy. Guys really love it.

2-Just a braid, it takes me about 3 mins to braid my hair, and its quite long. Braids say that your very sophisticated and willing.

3-Sometimes I even just put it all up and have my bangs combed over to one side-emo look- but its totally cute.

These are just some things that I do, but they defiantly work. You should try some and hopefully one of them work for you. Good luck, and no matter what, you are beautiful, regardless how thick your hair is.

well if the thickness is stopping you, ask the hairdresser to use texturing scissors or to layer it next time and go from there....

I would suggest you get a good haircut that will thin your hair some and shape it good. Then find a salon that has a computerized style finder and that will let you know what style is good for you and then ask the hairstylist about thining your hair and using a good conditioner. A good once a week at home one is a cup of mayo and 1/4 cup olive oil, work into hair then put on a shower cap for 30 min. ( only if you don't have oily hair). It is great for shine and manageability. Try a Latino store for a pink conditioner that comes from Mexico, it is great for thick hair (some family dollar stores or dollar general has it too, sorry I don't remember the name, my friend got it for me in Mexico but you can find it here). Layered cuts that thin your hair are usually the best for thick hair. The all one length makes it look fuller. It depends on the shape of your face as to what style would look good, thats why the computerized analysis would be best. Good luck and God Bless, Elle

His face shape is very similar to Johnny Depp's; he has a very slim face, high cheekbones, and a narrow chin. He has Very thick hair, and right now it's a little past shoulder-length, kept tied back, so any length hair you suggest will fall within range, lol. Requesting a haircut that would look okay with facial hair.

I also have long wavy, curly hair...and when the mood strikes me, I use a flat iron to smooth it all out. I am always pleased with the results. They make whole lines of products for our hair type that help to protect your hair, strengthen it, and give it a shine. Do it strand by strand. Keep it separated by clips, and lift by the root and pull it out as straight as you can keep it while moving the iron slowly down the length. Sometimes, I have to go back and redo the lower portion of the hair and smooth the tips softly under. Once you have mastered it after a couple of times; it really doesn't take that long. Always start with dry clean, conditioned hair. It will give you a whole new look.

I also have the very long thick curly hair and I occasionally like to straighten it - here's how I do it.

Shampoo and Condition like normal, towel dry and put up in a big clip to let it air dry for a while. Get a big round brush and a hair dryer with a diffuser and start blow drying your hair wrapping it around the brush one section at a time. Then when I finish out with a straightening iron I clip most of my hair up and work one section at a time leaving alittle bit down as I finish each section until its all straight. I then use a lil bit of biosilk to keep frizz at bay

another option is to use a regular clothes iron tostart out

it may dry your hair out a lil - if it does use a hot oil treatment the nnext time you wash your hair and you'll be fine

1.Wash your hair and condition.

2.Lightly towel dry your hair.

3.Blowdry your hair without touching your hair with your:fingers, blowdryer, brush etc.(it reduces natural curl u might have)

4.Apply a dollop of mouse to your hair All over.

5.Putt hot rollers in your hair starting at the top of your head! Use the entire set equally among your hair.

6.Let the hot rollers sit in your hair for 30 minutes.

7.Spritz with hairspray before you take them out.

8.Let HIarspray dry.

9.Take out rollers.

10.Turn your head face down and shake your head fiercely.

11.Enjoy!

My hair doesn't know whether it's straight or curly so it's wavy! And normally and thick mess all the time! Every girl I see where ever I go has thin hair that's straight and easily handled and I don't know how the heck they get their hair to be that way. get a hair straitner.... not the cheap kind but the good quality (look for the Chi brand) at a hair dressers. Use it and your hair will look very tame.

You can also blow dry it really well. Right when you get out of the shower blow dry it and brush it with a powerful brush.

You can also use "no frizz" and "straitening" shampoos!

Actually there is! I have huge hair too. If you go to the salon, you can get your hair 'thinned' out. They trim certain spots of your hair! It really works. For the unmanageable part, simply try different defrizzing products and such. If you ask the salon, they will suggest a really strong brand to you.

Oh geez.. there's so many things you can use on your hair. I wish I had thick hair. Mine is kind of fine and doesn't have a lot of natural volume.

See? The grass is always greener on the other side.

Anyway, are you using and products now? After you wash it you should apply some mousse or cream. Avoid sprays since those will just make it crunchy and eventually more poofy than before.

Pantene makes a lot of good products. They have this smooth and sleek hair serum that works well.

Also Redken is an awesome brand, but a little more expensive.

After you take a shower spray your hair with detangling spray (available at most department stores) then comb it as you blow dry it. Then try straightening your hair with a ceramic plated straightener and then apply some anti-frizz cream to it. It should look beautiful. Good Luck and I hope my advice works for you!!! =D

i have super poofy hair too. there are so many products out there for that hair type. i have tryed almost all of them and they all suck. i have found a couple okay products that i bought from the hair salon. i wasted thousands of dollars on hair products that dont work. dont waste your money on ones from drugstores. the onyl hair products anyone should be using are from the salon , the high end stuff, becuase its really the only stuff that gets the job done. the only way for it to be thin is for the hair dresser to thin in. sorry, but tis the only way. as for the smooth and straight, you can use a flat iron and straighten it then use a shine serum on top. i hope i helped

Hi! I need a new look to my hair!!

I'm a 15 year old African-American girl who has thick, THICK hair. I have been braiding my hair for the past two years after a perm disaster that happened to me in the eighth grade. But now, Im growing tired of the hassle of taking out so many box braids every three months or so and the pain of combing it out to go to the hair dresser. I tried weaving my hair but it looks like I put on a wig. I tried pressing my hair at the hair salon but my hair is SO thick that it came out in an afro rather than straight. While I can continue braiding my hair for now, I don't know what I am going to do when prom comes or when I get to college.

If you get your hair pressed more often, it will train your hair. Just make sure that you moisturize your ends a lot. Also, whenever you wash your hair, use a good conditioner. I use Motions conditioner. If you put your hair in braids, it will go back to being how thick it was before. Also, after you have braids in for a long time, you will be tender headed.

I think you should try getting a perm again but let a professional do it. Try the olive oil organic root stimulator perm. I have really thick hair and it has worked for me. Also go to the hair dresser regularly so that they can tame and train your hair. It may be expensive but after a while your hair will be very manageable and you won't have to go as much. When you wear braids it only makes your hair thicker. Braids would be the perfect thing to do while you are at college. They are low maintenance and you won't have to worry about doing your hair instead you can focus on your work. Good Luck.

The easiest way to make lank, fine hair look fuller and thicker is to wash it more frequently. When it's dirty, fine hair can look lifeless, but when your locks are just washed you get more bounce and a fuller look.

Choose a shampoo which gives your hair more body to thicken it and big it up! Conditioning is important but don't overdo it with thick creamy formulations that can weigh down your hair and make-it look lank again.

Give fine flyaway hair, bounce and body by blunt cutting - cutting the hairs straight across so that all the ends are exactly the same length.

Shoulder length or a bob style can be slightly graduated to give it more volume, while short hair can be blunt cut and the edges graduated to give it movement.

Remember- the longer it gets the wispier it will look. Better to keep it shorter if you want it to look fuller.

If you're desperate for longer locks you could try hair extensions which will add length and volume. Or, how about the temporary clip-on ones for a special night out?

I have really thick hair, too. I use Matrix "sleek" styling creme. It's in an orange tube, and you have to buy it at a salon.

You put it on when you get out of the shower, and then I normally straighten my hair with a Chi straightener. My hair ends up looking normal and shiny and straight. I love it!

Also, don't blow-dry your hair. Disaster! Makes it ten times worse. Always air dry.

I have that is very thick and coarse, and it looks poofy unless I put something in it. It's almost like hair that should be curly but is straight. My dad's hair is like mine but his is a little curly (he's italian) and my mom's is thick too but straight (she's irish).

So what can I do about my hair? I've used conditioners and currently I've switched to Redken for Men, it's like $10 a bottle and I've tried two kinds - one is called aquafy which is a shampoo/conditioner to hydrate the hair (thought this would help cuz it's dry), and then I tried get relaxed, it says "smoothing shampoo for coarse, unruly hair."

I spend a lot of money on this stuff, it works OK but doesn't do too much. My hair just looks POOFY all the time, unless it's really short like for about a week after I just get it cut. I used to gel it all the time, that would help a lot but I hate having gel in my hair and it's a pain to put it in every day.

Any advice? Ideas?

Ok. First off, you never said how long your hair is now! If you have short hair, the longer you grow it; more the puffiness will subside. The more layers you have, the more your hair will look BIG. The longer the layers the better. I would also suggest thinning the hair at about an 1" from the roots (depending on how coarse your hair is.) (a straight razor is best)

If your hair is shorter I suggest major texturizing with a straight razor. (throughout, (root to end)) I would try a different stylist.

Redkin Allsoft ( the heavy cream conditioner ) %26amp; their regular "All Soft " daily shampoo %26amp; conditioner is great as well. The heavy texturizing will make your hair light %26amp; spikeyish. The messy look. This is the look for today!

I am afraid gel or wax type products are needed with any style or hair type. Good Luck!!! Dar P.S. At least you have plenty of hair to work with! You can always take hair away but if you have nothing to work with to start, you really lose.

You know what I did with my thick, frizzy hair? I got it permanently straightened for about $150, it left my hair feeling straight, silky, and I can manage it very easily! It feels great to just take a shower and walk out the door.

However, if you're not willing to spend big bucks and have it naturally wavy instead.. I'd recommend getting garnier's leave in conditioner cream for your hair (put some on after you shower). Oh-- and NEVER sleep while your hair is wet or else the frizz will be like.. 10x's worse.

to get really pretty, beachy waves i use garnier fructis curl and shine shampoo. it defrizzes it and makes it wavy. while its drying i shrunch it with my hands, and by the time its dry its totally wavy. then i use garnier fructis anti-humidity smoothing milk to keep it from getting frizzy. good luck!

But seriously my sister-in- law who had like 6 older sisters told me this one: put your head down and brush your hair forward from the back of your neck Put a minimum of gel rubbed onto your hands evenly and applied very sparingly so it doesn't make your hair look dirty,blow dry it like this ,upside down, then when it is completely dry spray hair spritzer on it then dry it again without brushing just to get it dry- if you are going to use hot rollers do it before the spritzer step anyway when you flip it back over you can look like a big hair model.

get a layered cut. search for pictures online. www.lhj.com has some good pics. wash it with a smoothing or moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. use leave-in conditioner. never use heat on your hair. use olive oil or coconut oil and run it through your hair once it's dry. to get rid of frizz, use frizz serum. while you are waiting for your hair to absorb the oil, pull it back.

I don't think that anyone likes their hair and yours is a common question. I don't know what the annoying part is, but I can help with the thick part. Try having your hair layered. You won't believe how much lighter it will feel, and you will get lots of natural movement in a head of hair that simply hung there. If you have natural curl, its even better. Also you could try go to a hair salon and ask them to thin out your hair for you.

I know what you are talking about...

First try getting your hair trimmed. Get all the dead ends off, and have the stylist thin it from underneath as well.

Then, invest in a really REALLY good straightener. I used to have a regular straightener that I bought at Target. But it didn't really help. My mom bought me a CHI straightener and it has worked wonders for my hair. Even when I'm out in humidity it stays straight.... And my hair used to go crazy in humidity. The CHI really is worth every bit of money that you pay for it. It cost me around $150 3 years ago, but they may have gotten less expensive since then. And, well, it's lasted me 3 years so far.

The tools make ALL the difference in the world! If you get a good straightener, then you won't need any hair products that make it all greasy and whatnot. Go to a beauty supply store like Sally Beauty Suplies and ask them what straightener they recomend. I of course recomend the CHI. It has changed my life. I actually love my hair now!

First of all...whoever said it's nasty to go 4 days without washing your hair, no it's not. Don't listen to them. My hair works much better if I only wash it about twice a week, and doesn't get nearly as dry.

Second, is your hair naturally curly, or just thick? If it is truly bushy, it probably has some natural curl. Instead of straightening it, why not try to work with it. Don't try to brush it when it's dry. Wet it, comb out the tangles with a wide toothed comb, run some gel or cream through it (I use Noodle Head by Beyond the Zone...you can get it Sally's, but only use it the first day after you've washed your hair...after that, use something lighter, like Herbal Essences Totally Twisted curling gel), turn your head upside down and scratch your fingers through it to separate the curls, and then use a diffuser to dry it.

I would also recommend having it cut by a professional that is used to dealing with thick, bushy hair. Layers help mine, but they have to be gradual layers...defined layers will make it stick out even more.

Ok i grew my hair into a poney tail and then later on curled it and then tied my hair into a poney tail. Later on the curls wore off alot but it was still noticable and then i finaly cut it eye length but now my hair is thick and i use mouse every day so my hair can stay the way i want it to. now i regret ever curling my hair because it only made my hair thicker and it burnt my hair, also my hair grows alot in a matter of weeks, i have alot of hair. should i keep using mouse or should i use creams for my hair instead because i want my hair straight and flat again or should i not use anything at all. i guess you'll need like 15, and they're very safe because you don't need to use any heat, unless you dry your hair with a hair dryer which really isn't that bad, it's better than a curling iron and it looks sooo much better ! i mean it takes FOREVER but it's totally worth it

Sure, rollers are safe. The Velcro rollers are great, because when you roll the hair up %26amp; don't need to secure them with anything. You should try to have the rollers touching each other, so exactly how much you need is something I can't answer. I'd buy at least a dozen %26amp; a half or however they come in a package. Remember, the smaller the roller, the more curl you'll have, so if you don't want curl in certain places, try a little bigger roller. Make sure your hair is wet when you roll your hair so it will roll better for you. When you take all the rollers out, brush through the hair twice, then style. The brushing helps set the style.

Regular rollers to leave in for hours, overnight or whatever, the only damage would be breakage if wrapped improperly and ripped...

A good guide to use

Small rollers, about a dime size of hair

Medium and most common use, about a quarter size

This varies in the amount of rollers needed, the thickness of the hair, legnth and desired results.....I prefer hot rollers, they are quick, easy and cover most of my damage....My hair is bleached and usually long but medium legnth now. I alternate medium and large rollers...

I always remind people that just as any new skill, wrapping your hair can be awkward, be patient with yourself. While looking in the mirror your viewing your actions backwards....

Once you become more comfortable with wrapping, you will achieve better results...Most importantly....make sure the ends are wrapped smooth or tight....If you cannot roll in the mirror just close your eyes, grab and roll, thats the easiest way to learn.....

As for one of my best secrets.......To achieve those spiral egg shaped curls like Nicole Kidman.........Pick up Pedicure toe seperators, make sure hair is damp....and with practice you will basically cover each curl with netting a bit longer than the (picture a foil that is longer than the hair, only about 1/2 inch which allows you to wrap the ends smoothy and clip, for the most effect, you will roll them straight out......not downwards.....This technique takes awhile to master but if you have a friend roll it, its easier.....

Dont wax it ever- i tried it!! Waxing is some cruel torture that women have done unto themselves... shaving is fine, yeah the hair follicles will become more blunt and all, but you gotta keep shaving them, especially armpit hair. Pubic hair, you do it once in a while. You could bleach your pubic hair if u feel its gettin darker... stubble will be thick, but thats cos ur probably not putting shaving gel b4 shavin and softening lotion afterwards. Try it. It will certainly help. And i dont think it will affect ur sex life in any way, because it is not internal and your partner may like it, who knows...:)

DO NOT SHAVE EVER!!! WAX YOUR HAIR - it hurts the first few times - but go to someone with a light hand TELL THEM IT IS YOUR FIRST TIME and tell them to take it easy. Note: if they wax and put their hand on the spot they waxed for just 2 seconds its much better. DO NOT shave - throw your razor away NOW! You should DEFINATELY go to an expensive place the first time because they will do a VERY good job and take care of you (and that is what you deserve).

Hers is fake. Its a head band... they sell them in some beauty stores. The way that you could do it would to braid it starting low in the back and wrap it around.... pinning it with bobby pins all the way through. Good luck.

I have really thick, wavy hair. It looks great when it is wet but once it air dries it goes into a big ball of poofyness. What can i do to make my hair be back wavy or super straight. i know I cna starighten it everyday but that i sooooo damaging to my ahir and I know I can get it thinned out but my hairstylist told me that would make my hair super frizzy.

What other options do I have.?

Should I gte it permamntly straightened or relaxed. What will each do and what will each look like.

this is what I do to keep my poofy hair nice and straight.

1. after taking a shower, put sunsilks anti frizz creme on hair.

(you can put it on while hair is wet, or when hair is damp)

2. don't use a hair dryer, it only makes hair poofy-er.

3. when hair is finished drying, straighten your hair.

4. straighten ur hair in sections. and work ur way.

hair milk is really..go to a drugstore and to the hair section and look throguh all the gels/mousses and stuff and pick up a bottle of hair milk and test a bit in your hair to see which smells good and doestn feel to greasy...its not like gel or mousse so it won't make your hair crunchy, it'll give your hair mositure while keeping poof down and keep waves nice and bouncy.

well first of all you should definitely get it chemically straightened at a beauty salon (magic straight). it would cost about $130 but is worth the money since it lasts for about a year before your hair starts going back to your natural texture again.

if you want to stop the poofyness i recommend you should buy some conditionor or "thin hair" spray from really anywhere. drugstores, walmart, target. ... you name it

my hair is like that too and I choose the get the hairstyle of corrine bailey rae, it hids my frizz and the new growth and my perm...

The style I do for my hair is using perm rods, setting lotion and a blow drier.

The bigger the perm rods, the bigger the curls

-mist your hair with a mixture of setting lotion and water

-take a section of hair and wrap it around the perm rod

-once finished the whole head, let air dry for at least an hour

than blow dry the rest

-take out hair and fix curls with fingers

spray lightly with hairspray

to maintain the look you have to twist the strands together each night and untwist them in the morning.

this style is funky, and for me it took a day to get used to. But now people can't get enough of it.

If that style wasn't for you, than do not try the relaxer. It breaks down the structure of your hair leaving it weaker and more prone to damage, breaking off, dryness, split ends, tangles and so much more. If that doesnt seem like much to you think of this...

Some one's leg bone broken and put into a cast to heal. Those times that it heals it's very sensitive, being treated like china dishes. And once it heals, it will NEVER BE THE SAME. It won't support the same weight like it used to, the bone won't sustain as much abuse as before, and It might not even look to same...

the only way you can take the relaxer out of your hair is to cut it off... relaxers and perms are not irreversiable... THEY ARE PERMANENT ON YOUR HAIR

don't try it. Believe me, my hair was nice in the beginning when I couldn't keep my fingers out of it. And than the new growth came in and I had to spend more money to maintain it. And than it started to break... more money spent. And split ends.... more money.

i have the same kind of hair... big and frizzy... one thing i can tell you don't get it thinned out... my best thing to say is try a few different hair care products... sunsilk works for me but i hear tresema works great too... it all depends, you just have to experiment. and when washing try to keep the shampoo near the roots and the conditioner near the tips, thats one thing i found that works great... and getting your hair trimmed isn't a bad idea either, it always helps me, and about the staightening or relaxing, make sure you research it and remember nothing is permanant... also look up hot oil treatments... good luck with the poofy frizz, hope i could be some help

I have the same problem and every1 loves it but i hate it. Mines frizzy wavey and too thick which makes it uncontrolable. The only thing that has eva worked on me is to use GHD hair straightner to straighten it and use the hair dryer with a ceramic round sharp brissle brush to flatten it from the top.

I have thick hair too, but it's weird because sometimes it feels thick and sometimes it feels thin. To thin out your hair (but not too much because thin hair is bad) just go to the salon and ask your stylist for layers. The more layers = the more thin. But there's nothing wrong with having thick hair because when you're getting old and BALDING you will still have some hair on your head!

Ohh..I'm feelin your pain...I have very thick hair, and long at that. I finally got a stylist that knew how do layer it right. Just ask for long chunky layers all over. Then use a flat iron. I don't use the flat iron daily though, because I use enough heat just drying it. It takes me 20 min to blow dry my hair, no lie. But def. get layers!!! Hope this helps :)

my hair used to be thick, very thick, then I got the haircut from hell and my hair was so thinned (from the girl using a thinning knife) that it felt like a had only a few strands of hair in my ponytail. i get my hair thinned every so oftencuz i have thick curly hair and it always seemed to grow back but it has stopped growing back as much now so i rarely ever do it. i think that ur hair grows more when ur a preteen and just kinda subsides as u get older. it probably wasnt that much thinned out u just werent used to it cuz my mom thins my hair and i was sooo mad at her for thinning it too much until i found out that it really wasnt that thin...i just wasnt used to it not being so thick. if it really is that mcuh thinner u can try getting thickening shampoos and conditioners. i dont think they make ur hair thicker it just looks thicker i think...but dont worry about it. u can just find a way to work ur hair the way it is. im sure u can do something to make it look absolutely adorable!

Your question is a bit confusing...hair always grows back at the rate of 1/2 inch per month on average. After 3 years you should have at least 18 inches of hair back. Thinning reduces hair thickness because it is texturized at various lengths but you will need to allow the shortest thinned hair to grow back to the length you desire.

If you want all your hair to be one length which I presume to be your question, then you will need to trim the from the bottom to catch up with the texturized lengths until you have your hair all the same length.

At age 17 you are very young and other forms of hair loss could occur but I doubt it. We all lose thousands of hairs each day which is normal shedding but at your age, you should not worry.

Hair is primarly made up of protein and water, so you will need to eat foods that provide plenty of both. Hope this helps.

Go to a trichologist. Go to yellowpages.com and type in trichologist and the state you live in or a state nearby and call and make an appointment with one. My hair was thinned out from a bad straightener and a bad cut as well (SHORT) and I'm now on the road to recovery. I thought my hair was just damaged from those things but he explained that I have an oily scalp and that instead of dandruff flaking out of my follicles, it is getting trapped at the root and causing my hair to grow in thinner and thinner each time. He said this would have happened anyway with or without the bad straightener and damage. He did scalp treatments and I'm now using a special shampoo and treatments and night to help my follicles get cleansed out for thicker hair growth.

Hair mistakes take years to correct. Sometimes it never really goes back to the way it once was, mine never has. So I just work with it the way it is, what else can you do? All I can suggest now is always after showering comb or pick your hair out with you hair flipped over your head. I do it over the tub. Then ring it out and put it up in a towel for a few minutes. Then when you take it out, apply mouse the same way running your fingers through it. I like Pantene mousse. Then I blow dry it about every five minutes for about a minute the same way flipped over. Yes a lot of work but it works for me. Each time I blow dry or every other depending on how its acting I sprits suave and crunch it, I like curly. I do this until its almost dry or dry. Then pick it out lightly one last time and use a finishing spray. Oh I wanted to tell you I use this root lifter that you use after your root are dry. You apply it to them and then blow dry the roots it really helps with volume on top, I think its called sexy hair or something like that in a red small pump, alittle exspensive but you only need alittle and it works. good luck Kim

Start with a professional Shampoo and Conditioner. I Like paul mitchells Super Skinny line. It is affordable too, you don't need alot. When you blow dry, section your hair, and blow down the hair shaft, that keeps it smooth and shiny.

Don't you even think about putting your hair i a bun when it is wet not even braids trust me it will be even worse than usual i should know mine is the exact same way. I went out and bout frizz control syrum. it works like a charm then you can blow dry it but you might wanna put a little gel just a tad in there so it helps it stay more relaxed.

When you go ask for it to be thinned out. Then buy a good quality hair straightner ($150 - $300 AU) and ask for a side swept fringe. Then go to ur local supermarket and buy garnier fructis - sleek and shine hair moisturiser (in a green bottle) follow the instructions, straighten ur new 'do and the options are endless!!! trust me its the only solution!! and btw... I COULDN"T BE HAPPIER!!!! I love my new hair and no more frizz, and its no longer dry thanks to garnier!!!!

I'm not going bald or anything, it's just that I noticed that I'm "shedding" more hair than usual and think that maybe if I use a new shampoo it might fix the problem. I'm not sure if the "shedding" is due to hair breakage(my hair is not as healthy as I would like) or my new low calorie diet.

You are supposed to lose about 100 strands of hair a day. If you keep your hair up and then shower, you may be seeing a lot shedding then because it hasn't had the chance while up. For healthy hair, try a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner (I like Patene Ice or Dove) and a deep conditioner 2-3 times a week. Also, don't wash your hair everyday, do it every other so you don't dry your hair out. Get in for a trim every few months and get a cut that makes it so you don't have to abuse your hair with over styling. I don't know about the low cal diet, but I do know that you need good nutrition for healthy hair. They make vitamins specifically for healthy hair and nails so try that. Hope I helped.

If you want to keep the length of your hair, then get it layered (long layers), and have your stylist frame your face with your hair ( it's almost like your hair goes on a diagonal to accent your face better than just straight). I have a round face also, and I swear by the little detail of having the face framed.

The simple way is to wax it or use a hair removal cream like nair, unfortunetly it will grow back but will not become any thicker. You could get laser hair removal or electrolysis done but you may want to look into that further before doing it.

Actually, Pantine is composed mainly of waxes that make your hair look so shiny, the problem is they build up on the hair and coat the shaft. Over time, it's a thick coating. I personally would suggest investing in a good salon quality shampoo. A few I can name off the top of my head are: Matrix Amplify line (all styling products too), or the new Matrix for Men series (has a thickening shampoo, which isn't going to change your hair, per se, but it will give it the appearance of more volume and fullness), it also has a whole styling line to go with it, and none of the girly smell, actually has like a men's body spray scent. Beyond that, I'm not sure what to tell you other than the next time you go to your hairdresser for a cut, ask their advice as to whether or not they think there might be a more flattering cut or style that will help enhance the look of what you do have.

OH and almost forgot, getting regular trims also helps as it keeps the hair healthier and it doesn't have the chance to get stringy looking, which also contributes to a thinner look. :)

Aw, don't use a product to make your hair hard. If you like your thick curley hair, then try a curl amplifier, you can find them in moose form. Then you won't have to wash it everynight. But if you would like to straighten your hair to get rid of curls and frizz, try buying flat-iron, and I reccomend REDKIN hot sets, level 22. It works great.

Getting layers can help, as can getting your hair thinned out with a special razor. (most salons and hair cutting places have it) You also might want to try a flat iron. I have poofy, coarse, wavy hair, but when I use my CHI flat iron, my hair is half the size it is naturally, and it's straight, shiny, and has a flatter, smoother texture. It definitely looks and feels "thinner", but in a good way.

Yeah just go to a hairdresser and tell them that you would like to thin your hair out a bit. They have special techniques and scissors to do that with. I would only trust a certified professional to do this, though. But that is just me.

Tips:

1) Don't Ccomb your hair when its dry %26amp; when its wet, use a brush or Thick tooth comb.

2) Style with your fingers (stay away from curling irons etc.)

3) COCONUT SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER/OIL (works miracles for frizzy hair!)

4) rinse with Cold Water! Warm water will make it more frizzy.

5) EGG %26amp; MAYO (sounds disgusting but it will keep your hair SHINY, SILKY %26amp; less FRZZY!! Leave it in your hair for 30 mins. then rinse!)

6) LOVE YOUR HAIR!! %26amp; try not to experiment with many products, the more products you use the worse it will get!
