Short haircut for thick hair?

I was looking at victoria beckham's haircut and I was thinking going down that road, but not as short in the back. Would this work with thick hair, and how hard would it be to manage? I have a oval face, and my hair is about halfway down my back. Links and things to tell my hairstylist would be great. Thanks!
