Good men's hairstyle - thick hair and slim face?

I'm looking for a good haircut for my boyfriend, but these haircuts for men are really all the same! It's driving me crazy.

His face shape is very similar to Johnny Depp's; he has a very slim face, high cheekbones, and a narrow chin. He has Very thick hair, and right now it's a little past shoulder-length, kept tied back, so any length hair you suggest will fall within range, lol. Requesting a haircut that would look okay with facial hair.

Keep it long but layer it up. Keep him out of the barber shops. Go to a good salon and have the stylist layer it up as she would for a woman. Trust me--it will look great on him, and he won't lose his masculinity. Go for a few highlights if he's brave (you may need to encourage him--guys are afraid of being seen as effeminate, but hey--we're just talking about hair, and boy hair at that, right?).

All the cuts for guys look the same because they are all the same. The fashion boundaries have been drawn so tightly around men that few options exist. What we need are a few pioneers to push the boundaries back a bit. "We're looking for a few good men."

Shave him bald, and then as his hair is growing out, style it in many different ways. That way you are starting from ground zero and progressing from there, getting to see all the possibilities.
