Long Thick Wavy Hair?

I have long thick curly hair and I want to straighten it but it might take hours because the length is to my butt. How can I find a quicker way to straighten it without taking so long? And will a hot iron burn or ruin my hair? Thanks!

I also have long wavy, curly hair...and when the mood strikes me, I use a flat iron to smooth it all out. I am always pleased with the results. They make whole lines of products for our hair type that help to protect your hair, strengthen it, and give it a shine. Do it strand by strand. Keep it separated by clips, and lift by the root and pull it out as straight as you can keep it while moving the iron slowly down the length. Sometimes, I have to go back and redo the lower portion of the hair and smooth the tips softly under. Once you have mastered it after a couple of times; it really doesn't take that long. Always start with dry clean, conditioned hair. It will give you a whole new look.

There is a pill you can take which will make it straight temporarily or permanently. Just look it up or ask somebody about it. Also there are shampoo's and conditioners.

Get it done at a salon for around $500 and it'll last up to a year

cut your hair to a lower length then try straighting it it could make it alot easier

my daughter irons her hair, and mine for me, all the time....

on lowest setting....on dry hair only.......

and yes, if left too long, your hair will burn....do it quickly....you should NOT smell any burnt smell at all......if you do, your iron is too hot or you're doing it too slow.

BE CAREFUL !!!! she's burned herself a few times too...it's not fun!

take a shower...no that is not the whole snswer i aint mean take a shower blow dry it strait and then just run it thought the straitener wont take long trust me i do it DO NOT USE A REGULAR IRON it damages your hair rly bad!! dont ever do it

I also have the very long thick curly hair and I occasionally like to straighten it - here's how I do it.

Shampoo and Condition like normal, towel dry and put up in a big clip to let it air dry for a while. Get a big round brush and a hair dryer with a diffuser and start blow drying your hair wrapping it around the brush one section at a time. Then when I finish out with a straightening iron I clip most of my hair up and work one section at a time leaving alittle bit down as I finish each section until its all straight. I then use a lil bit of biosilk to keep frizz at bay

another option is to use a regular clothes iron tostart out

it may dry your hair out a lil - if it does use a hot oil treatment the nnext time you wash your hair and you'll be fine

You could cut your hair. I used to have hair like yours but i cut mine. I cut off 10 inch. and now it feels a lot better and only takes 5 min. to straighten it. I love my hair cut sooo much!! And I don't think a hot iron will burn or ruin your hair. Hope this helps!! :)

you can use a flat iron. Just buy a sprray to put on your hair before you use the flat iron. If you go to a salon or a Sallys Beauty supply, they can suggest what to get. Or you can get some oils that you put in your hair before you blow dry and straighten. You can get the perm that will straightne your hair, but it will naturally get wavyonce it starts to grow back though.

Good luck!

After you wash your hair, blow dry it right after you're done and that should make it pretty straight. If it's still not as straight as you want it then use a hair iron. It shouldn't burn your hair unless it's really hot. It probably can't get that hot though because it's not safe. Using an iron too often could damage your hair though, so don't straighten it every day if you can help it.

I hope that helps! :-)

if u want to have a beautiful straight hair, rebonding is the answer... but u have to invest 4 to 6 hours of ur time in a respectable salon. Rebonding takes out the kinks that get in the way of dead-straight hair. With rebonding hair stays straight even after shampoo. Straight hair achieved through crimping disappears the minute you wash it. Rebonding also frees you to colour, bleach or whatever, as early as a week after the process - unlike straight perms, which would have damaged your hair had you opted for any further process, like streaking.

Use a straightening shampoo and no it will not as long as u use the proper heat.

i have the same hair!!! i use "sleek look" by "Matrix" its in an orange bottle in most salons the shampoo and leave-in conditioner then blow dry it while brushing through it and if u still have a couple waves use a straightening iron on it too, or wash it with that shampoo and use the conditioner then put then up in HUGE velcro rollers and blowdry then leave in for at least 10 mins. then take them down and brush through it! or get it chemically straightend! good luck!!!

cut it about 2-7 inches shorter then straiten it w/ a straightener or keep it the way it is and have it straighten professionally at a salon.
